Mountain Climbers at The Viaduct

Foghorn Leghorn appearance

Twas a wild day on the trail on Wednesday August 5th. We were eastbound,
just east of 17th Ave. right behind the FPD maintenance facility at about 9:30a.
In the middle of the trail was a rooster. Yes, a rooster, a big one. The poor guy
was truly a lost soul, he was rather docile, I could get fairly close to him.

Our first thought was that he may have been an escapee from Brookfield Zoo, as he was
so calm with everyone on the trail who stopped to check him out.

I went over to alert FPD at the office that is right there. The gal was very helpful,
called the zoo, and they were not missing any prisoners. She was going to send the guys out
to cage him. We surmised some yahoo just dumped him there. We were afraid he would
become coyote dinner if not rescued before dark.

And hey, I took pics!...Nobody would beleive this story without a pic.

I present, in da flesh...FogHorn Leghorn, (for Looney Tune fans)...

Welcome!

Greetings fellow bike riders, I thought it
would be fun to start a blog about Salt Creek.

I started riding once again this spring, and I try to get out every day. Salt Creek is such a beautiful, natural amenity right in the middle of a densely populated urban area.... it amazes me.

Feel free to use this blog to chat, post pictures
or whatever...

Heck, we can even use it as a sounding board to
pass ideas onto the Forest Preserve District!

Oh, btw...Mark Brown in the Sun-Times had a great article today on riding...

Hope to hear from many of you...Happy cycling, walking, running, or blading the trail!
